Case Study – Moore Australia (WA)

It was MyWorkpapers’ end-to-end cloud platform that prompted Moore Australia (WA) – a member of the global Moore network of accountancy firms – to implement MyWorkpapers, says Moore Australia (WA) Tax and Business Advisory Manager Rebecca Reaney.

The firm, which has 15 Partners and more than 100 staff, had been seeking a cloud-based workpapers platform, but found other options on the market had significant drawbacks. Some offered cloud storage, but nevertheless required software to be installed on desktop computers. Others met the firm’s cloud criteria, but fell short as they were designed for much smaller firms.

In July 2021, the firm settled on MyWorkpapers and currently use it across its full range of tax and business advisory services.

“We did experience some resistance from staff members initially, but four months in everyone was really happy with it,” said Rebecca.

“The bookkeeping team are seeing the greatest benefit now as files roll over from month to month, saving them a huge amount of time.

“We are looking forward to seeing the same roll-over benefits across our other teams next year.”

Rebecca stated that after the first month, when everything needed to be set up, the team found that the process became much quicker and more secure with the ability to lock-down workpapers once the job was complete.

She added, “the Partner sign-off process is much smoother and a lot more straightforward with less risk involved.”

While Western Australia hasn’t been in lockdown during the time Moore Australia (WA) has been using MyWorkpapers, the firm is increasingly moving towards more flexible working methods such as working from home.

“We can already see that it’s going to be better if something happens if we implement working from home again.

“When we were in lockdown we were able to get by, but it wasn’t the smoothest process. It would’ve been easier if we had implemented MyWorkpapers earlier.

“As I am working from home today, I am logged onto MyWorkpapers, and it’s definitely a much smoother process,” said Rebecca.

“We are now better prepared and set-up for more flexible ways of working.”

When asked what she would say to other firms considering implementing MyWorkpapers Rebecca said: “We would recommend using MyWorkpapers if you are going for a cloud strategy. We looked at a lot of alternative solutions, but MyWorkpapers was the only cloud-based software that we could find that was fully cloud-based and integrated with Xero and other systems that we use.”
